Teriyaki Salmon

Stop right here if you’re looking for a healthy dinner idea that isn’t too hard. This Teriyaki salmon is paired with pan fried asparagus for the perfect meal. We will also make our own teriyaki sauce here which you’ll see is actually quite simple, and will add a nice savory sweet taste to the dish.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tbsp. Olive oil
  • 6 oz. Salmon fillet
  • Marinade
  • 1/2 tbsp. Mirin
  • 1/2 tbsp. Soy sauce
  • Asparagus
  • 2 oz. Asparagus
  • 1 tbsp. Olive oil
  • Sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp. Butter
  • 2 tsp. Mirin
  • tbsp. Light soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup Water
  • 1/2 tbsp. Sugar
  • 2 tsp. Starch slurry

Put the Salmon in a bowl, then add the Mirin and soy sauce then rub it evenly, marinate for about 10 min or more.

Meanwhile, heat a grill pan on high heat, put the asparagus into the pan, and add the olive oil. Once it is cooked and got some nice color on the surface, take it out from the pan and set it aside.

Take another pan, add the olive oil, once it gets hot then put the salmon into the pan, skin side down, and you need to keep eye on it because after we marinated with soy sauce, it will get burnt easily, seared each side until they got golden brown or the internal temperature reached 145°F/60°C, then take out the salmon from the pan.

In the same pan, add the butter, after the butter melted, add the mirin and soy sauce, cook a bit then add water and sugar mix well then simmer for about 2 mins, adjust the taste here, then close the heat, add starch slurry then stir it right away.

Drizzle the sauce on the salmon, and garnish with the white sesame and chive, enjoy.
