Blooming Onion

Everyone knows that onions have many health benefits including detoxification, lowering the risk of several kinds of cancer & lifestyle diseases, and relieving fatigue. The most special thing about onions is that nutrition is not easily destroyed while we cook. Moreover, cooking onions with vegetable oil can double its anti-cancer and blood clot prevention effect! Ingredients:
  • 2 Large Onions
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powder Mixture:
  • 1 cup Frying powder
  • 1 tsp. Red pepper powder
  • 1 tsp. Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. Curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Milk mixture:
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 Large Egg Yolk
  • Dipping Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp. Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp. Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. Oligosaccharide
  • 1 tsp. Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp. Crushed garlic
  • Pepper
Directions:

Remove the papery skin and cut the top of the onion, without cutting all the way through to the bottom.

Cut a core out of the middle of the onion. Slice the onion about 3/4 of the way down (leave at least 1cm from the bottom), careful not to cut to the bottom, until the onion has been cut into 16 pieces. Use chopsticks as guides to avoid cutting all the way down.

Place the onion in the water for 30 mins and drain.

Combine powdered seasonings in a large bowl and set aside. In a separate bowl, mix 1 egg yolk with milk to make an egg wash.

Sprinkle over the powdered seasoning on the onion, dip in egg wash, and sprinkle over the powdered seasoning again. Shake off any excess seasoning.

Add enough oil to a frying pan and heat to 320 °F/ 160 ℃, and fry the onion. To make it crispier, fry once again on high heat.

Make a room in the middle of the onion and place the dipping sauce.
