Pulled Pork Recipe with Rice Cooker

🍴 Pulled pork is regarded as one of the American soul foods. With Gordon Ramsay’s renowned recipe, pulled pork is a big chunk of pork, like a pork shoulder, smoked for a long time, characterized by a mild and deep flavor and very tender texture – you can even shred it with your fingers. You can make this pulled pork at home with a rice cooker and oven, without a sous vide machine. It’s crispy and golden brown on the outside, while juicy and moist inside. Shred along the grain, it’s great for lots of dishes, like burgers, tacos, and pizza.

Recipe
PRE TIME: 20 min
COOKING TIME: 40 min
TOTAL TIME: 1 hr
6 SERVING
Ingredients:
  • 2.6 Lb. Pork
  • Some barbeque sauce
  • 4 Tbsp Steak seasoning (or herb salt)
  • 4 Tbsp Honey (or cornstarch syrup)
Directions:
1
After removing the red liquid from the pork by placing the pork on a paper towel, rub the seasoning mixture of 2 tablespoons each of honey and steak seasoning – which is half of the entire seasoning mixture – and then let it sit for about 30 minutes.
2
Add the pork to a zipper bag, and seal it with another zipper bag so that no water will be inside the bag. Place the bag in the rice cooker, and pour hot water, which is about to simmer, into the cooker so that it will barely cover the bag. With the WARM function of the cooker, cook it at 167°F/ 75°C for 18~20 hours in the form of sous vide. (tip. Adjust your cooking time based on how thick and big your pork is.)
3
Remove the juice that came out of the tenderly cooked pork. Place the pork in the oven pan with its fat facing upwards, rub the rest of the seasoning mixture on it.
4
Place the pork in the preheated 392°F /200°C ovens, and cook it for 15~20 minutes until the fat and outside become crispy golden brown. (tip. Adjust your cooking time based on your oven’s heating power and the size of your pork.)
5
With the cooking gloves on, shred the cooked pork, the outside of which is crispy, along the grain. Stir the shred pulled pork with barbecue sauce. (Tip. Adjust the amount of the barbeque sauce based on the salinity of your pork.)
6
You can enjoy it with tacos or burgers, along with coleslaw, pickles, jalapeño, or barbecue sauce to your liking.
